About Department

The Department of Zoology, Maharana Pratap P.G College, shares its origin with that of the college itself, in the year 1979. Initially, the Department offers an Under Graduate degree, in Zoology. The department was upgraded to offer M.Sc Zoology degree in 1998 based on excellent performance and results given by the department. The department has two teaching and two non-teaching posts. The teaching staff give their best for the enhancement of the students academically and also towards grooming their overall personality.

The department has two well equipped labs with modern instruments to impart high quality practical experience. Department maintains an intra departmental library developed by the teaching staff of the department. The library is well equipped with standard reference books which are required for NET and other competitive examinations. The previous teaching staff had successfully completed projects under the UGC research proposal scheme. The department organizes intra departmental competitions among students to enhance their competence in various fields beside the subject knowledge. The department also organizes educational tours and visits to various conservation parks not just to impart theoretical knowledge but also to enhance their practical experiences. So that, students should understand the conservation efforts and techniques used in actual field work

The department is proud to have produced excellent students who are working as Assistant Professors in Government and Aided colleges. The students are also working in highly reputed schools of various cities, thus, increase in the employability of the students and contributing to the society in general. Therefore, students are giving an excellent service to the society
